Mumbuni north: The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has officially launched its campaign for Anthony Kisoi, the declared party flag bearer in the upcoming Mumbuni North Ward by-election.
According to Kenya News Agency, the campaign kick-off took place at Kisooni Grounds in Mumbuni North and was spearheaded by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti. She was accompanied by a group of Wiper leaders and supporters who emphasized the importance of rallying behind Kisoi. The leaders highlighted the significance of the election for the Wiper Party and its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka.
Governor Wavinya pointed out that the by-election transcends the ward seat, symbolizing Kalonzo’s political clout both in Ukambani and nationwide. She encouraged residents to vote for Kisoi as a demonstration of support for Kalonzo’s 2027 presidential aspirations. Wavinya underscored the necessity of maintaining peaceful campaigns and urged politicians to foster unity and respect, avoiding divisive rhetoric.
The Machakos Deputy Governor commented on the contest as a battle between Wiper and Maendeleo Chap Chap, seeing it as a test of political influence in Ukambani. Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu echoed this sentiment, stating the by-election would gauge Kalonzo’s political strength and urged locals to secure a win for Wiper.
In his speech, Kisoi committed to focusing on education and development in Mumbuni North. He promised to enhance educational facilities and promote youth empowerment if elected.
The Mumbuni North seat became vacant two years ago after the passing of Gideon Kavuu of Maendeleo Chap Chap, and residents will soon elect a new representative.
The event saw participation from other notable Wiper leaders, including Machakos Woman Representative Kamene Kasimbi, Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa, Kilome MP Thaddeus Nzamba, Kitui Central MP Mulu Makali, Kitui Rural MP Bonny Mwalika, and former Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka, along with several MCAs led by Deputy Speaker Steven Mwanthi and Majority Leader Nicholas Nzioka.
